Is there any acne treatment that doesn't irritate pale, sensitive skin?

admin September 10th, 2011

My skin is pale and /VERY/ sensitive. I’ve had prescription medications for acne but hated it, proactive made me as red as a tomato and it felt like my skin was on fire for almost a week after using it, tried clean and clear, that made my skin red too. Anytime I do anything to my skin, it seems to turn insanely red, probably because I’m so pale. I don’t really want to try any other acne medicines because every time I do I end up having a million people ask me how I got so badly ’sunburnt’ -_-". Is there anything that won’t make my skin so red?

Which cream would you recommend so it can fix my relative's forehead wrinkles?

admin August 16th, 2011

A month ago my relatives forehead was fine, it had only a bit of wrinkles, and then she used the "Neurtogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle cream" for about a but she noticed a negative difference, it would seem as if her forehead deflated much like a balloon, which resulted in many more wrinkles than ever before. Now she does not know what cream to put on her face so she can fix her forehead so that it would look like a month ago. She tried to use loreal anti-aging cream so that her skin would be firm but did not work, so she is using an olay cream and still not difference, no results. Now she does not know what to do so that her forehead would be firm again instead of a deflated balloon. So of you know of any cream that may help her? Something that really works!

Which Nivea Lotion is BEST for "orange peel" belly? Goodbye Cellulite, Anti-Age Treatment, or My Silhouette!

admin August 8th, 2011

Nivea has a few different products for skin tightning, cellulite, etc. Just a little confused about which one is best for my purpose.

I’m in my early 30s, but have had the orange peel thing happening on my stomach for the past year.

Just purchased Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite, in addition to Nivea’s Age Defying Moisturizer, both for use on my body and not my face.

But I wonder if the "orange peel" belly is even cellulite or just excess skin from when I lost 10 pounds, and if the cellulite gel would even work for this.

NIVEA PRODUCTS’ CLAIMS

Anti-Age Treatment Body Lotion
Less wrinkles, e.g. at décolleté or arm pit area
Less dryness all over the body

My Silhouette!/Slimming & Reshaping Gel-Cream
Leads to a reduction of up to 3 cm on targeted body parts such as thighs, hips, waist and belly.

Good-bye Cellulite Gel-Cream
Visible reduction of the appearance of cellulite at the respective body parts.

Help! Don’t want to use the incorrect product for my belly….
I forgot about Skin Firming Moisturiser by Nivea.

CLAIMS
Noticeably firms the skin
Tangibly tightens the skin
Moisturises the skin

Sigh.

Why is my body itching all over…?

admin July 27th, 2011

I recently had an allergic reaction to the dye I had put in my hair, even though I had done the skin test before using the dye.
twelve hours after applying the dye my face reacted in a rash with my eyes, lips and ears swollen.
A doctor then gave me some steroid and anti-histamine jabs and pririton tablets, saying that the swelling go away in about three days time.
My face continued to swell and distort until I could no-longer recognise myself
Some seven days later my GP reacted in horror and prescribed more Piriton tablets and a hydrocortisone cream for my skin and scalp.
Some twelve days later, my hair feels like someone has been trying to pull it out, my scalp is painful to the touch and I can feel scabs on my scalp and the backs of my ears.
The swelling has all but gone away although the skin around my eyes and forehead is red, irritated, dry and wrinkled.
My body "itches" all over….
I am applying the cream to no-avail
The itching From head to toe is driving me KRAZY…!!!!!!!!
Help.

A question about wound care ?

admin June 22nd, 2011

Hi!

So I was in the kitchen one day and got a little excited with my new chef’s knife.

There I was chopping coriander, and my mind wondered… chop :(

The knife went through my finger diagonally. It mustn’t gone very deep as I felt no pain but there was profuse bleeding.

It also went through my nail and made a wide "U" at the top of the nail; but was still attached. It went into the skin of my thumb too.

After washing and picking out coriander (actually there was one bit left as I was scared to move the bit of nail too much! :/), I applied pressure, raised my hand and ran to the pharmacy down the road.

The pharmacist said it didn’t look too bad and as it was the weekend, I couldn’t visit the local surgery.

I applied antiseptic ointment (Savlon) and applied a plaster, and wrapped my finger with a waterproof white tape ‘dressing’ so I could continue cooking.

Now having set the scene my actual question(s) is/are as follows:

[*] I’ve been changing the dressing every 24 hours and the bleeding stopped after the first dressing. There is no pain but on the first day there was a dark haematoma-like bruising. So I washed the area again carefully and reapplied the ointment, plaster and bandage. These things are airtight and waterproof so should I be letting the wound to "breathe" or is this an old wives tale?

[*] Is it normal for the skin that has been covered for 24 hours (on several occasions) to develop a lighter/wrinkled hue to the surrounded skin? In some areas (for example I assume where the ointment has collected under the bandage) the area is extremely white and in contrast with the other areas around it. Is this just because of saturation or is it a sign of infection?

I am on a very very busy schedule and I would be amazingly grateful if I could get feedback on my situation. I look forward to your replies.

Thanks!
Thank you for the replies Jessica S and Butterfly.

I panicked at Jessica’s reply but I’m a little more relaxed now with Butterfly’s other end of the spectrum reply… but to be safe I may just pop down to the surgery and they’ll send me to the ER if necessary.

Thankfully its my left (non-dominant) hand and therefore I can try my best to keep it out of harms way during the day. The bandage/dressing I applied was originally in fear of squashing/deforming the wound as I slept!

I’ll continue to monitor this thread and thanks again for the replies!
Oh I forgot to mention that the wound itself has cleared up nicely, the bruising has disappeared, there is a little flappy skin and the cut part of the nail has reseated itself like a jigsaw and holds in place without the bandage. Pressing around the nail and on the actual flap of skin does not sting or hurt. There is no secretion and the only cause for concern was the slightly too-long-in-the-warm-bath look of some bits of skin in the covered top section of the thumb (and not on the actual wound/around the wound itself).

I hope the above paragraphs weren’t too incoherent!

How do some women smokers prevent smoking from ruining their appearance?

admin February 19th, 2011

Women who are habitual smokers very often look 5 to 10 years older than women who do not smoke(this is especially true after about age 30). Yet a distinct minority of 30+ women who habitually smoke don’t look like they smoke at all because of how youthful they look. I often get shocked when a beautiful women with a nearly flawless, youthful appearance tells me she smokes. I’m like "where are the wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin?". I realize it will eventually catch up with them, and not just when it comes to appearance so I hope they quit.

So besides genetic factors, how do they prevent smoking from ruining their appearance? I know this one woman who looks significantly younger than her age, in spite of her smoking for a long time. Let’s just assume they’ve been smoking for a long time(hardly anyone starts smoking after age 25). Do they use special make up techniques, special face creams, plastic surgery, or is it their diet or something else?
For all the smokers: How many cigarettes do you smoke every day? Thanks.

Best treatment for "under the skin" acne?

admin December 13th, 2010

Please don’t bother answering if you don’t have experience with "under the skin" acne or even know what I mean by that!

The little skin colored bumps that almost look like a rash all over cheeks, forehead, sometimes chest. If you have had this, have you found a good treatment for it, (preferably not meds) some sort of skin care system that has worked to eliminate these acne bumps?

Thanks!

How can I shrink my pores and brighten my skin?

admin November 21st, 2010

Hi! I have a few problems when it comes to my skin:

1. I have enlarged pores on my nose and cheeks around my nose. I don’t think they are really clogged because I clean my face every night. The skin around my nose is somewhat oily. I have tried avocado masks and the Biore pore strips but it still doesn’t help. I would like to make my pores go back to there normal size which would also make my skin a bit tighter (not that I have wrinkles or anything).

2. I am very fair-skinned and my skin sometimes looks tired and pale instead of just fair. Because my skin is so light, it is easy to see a sort-of unevenness in my skin tone. I exfoliate with St. Ives apricot scrub every night so I would think that would help.

3. I have trouble areas (my cheeks and chin) that have some bumps and the occasional zit that will just not go away no matter how much I treat it. How can I help this?

My nightly skin care regimen is:

-wash with St. Ives green tea anti-redness and blemish cleanser
-scrub with St. Ives anti-blemish apricot scrub
-swipe rubbing alcohol onto trouble areas (sometimes)
-apply clearasil 4 hour "zit vanishing" cream to trouble areas
-moisturize with Jergens cell renewer and skin smoothing lotion

I know I may have gone overboard on how many products I should use every night, but I don’t know how else to help. Please help and thank you so much in advance!

HELP! I need some skin care advice for a 34 year old woman, what can you recommend?

admin October 5th, 2010

I have combination skin. I am a natural blond with fair skin. Luckily, I really don’t have any wrinkles yet except for some starting under my eyes. I am a smoker though and I am trying to quit not only for beauty’s sake but my health. I have spent a lot of time in the sun in my life but the past couple of years, I haven’t been tanning. I have samples of Estee Lauder’s "Advanced Night Repair", Clinique’s "Total Turnaround", and Lancome’s "Resolution." I like how they all feel. They are costly though and I wonder if they are really worth it or am I just as well off with a cheaper drug store brand? How many times a day should I be cleansing, moisturizing, using anti-wrinkle products, and possibly using a mask? I break out but mainly just around my jaw line. I do have large pores that are constantly clogged! I’d love it if someone could suggest products to use and when to use them. I’m afraid to go to the department store and go to a make-up counter ’cause they (cont’d)
are out there to make commission and I don’t want to spend a fortune! I mean, what is a reasonable amount of money to spend on a monthly skin care regime???? I’d also like to get Microdermabrasion but how costly is it now and how painful is it? I have some deep acne scarring. Also, if I wear foundation, should I put products for skin care on underneath the make-up? What is your favorite skin care line? I know some dermatologists have their own lines of skin care products, are there any good ones out there? One more problem, my chest is heavily freckled (well, I guess they are sun spots), how can I help get rid of them or are they permenant now? I’m done tanning. I’d like to try the professional spray tanning but am afraid it won’t look real. Have you tried that? SORRY about all the que stions! I’m just worried ‘ cause I’m getting close to middle age and I want to keep some of my youthful looks like any other woman! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Im young and I want to keep my skin tight and healthy????

admin September 13th, 2010

I am 23 in good health I like to lay out in the sun…but not to to much, I started noticing some slight wrinkles on my face and on my chest..what is the best tightening cream, or thing I can do to keep my skin looking firm and preventing these wrinkles…YOU DON"T EVEN HAVE TO SAY STAY OUT OF THE SUN I KNOW!!

Skin care: I've stopped eating sugar, now what?

admin September 9th, 2010

I’ve finally weaned myself off sugar completely, after connecting the dots (no pun intended), and realizing I had hypoglycemic acne. My daily diet is made up of mostly fruits and leafy vegetables and broccoli now, with some almonds, a very small amount of organic yogurt, a very small amount of salmon, and either brown rice and plain oatmeal, and green tea occasionally. I take a ballet class 3-4 times a week, and feel very, very good, and very energetic and balanced. I’m left with the ravages of nearly 19 years of cystic acne on my face, neck, and chest, though, and am wondering what I can do- now that I’ve addressed what I can of the underlying cause- about my somewhat oily, pockmarked skin. I’m currently using Clinique face wash for Oily Skin, and am finishing up a tube of Neutrogena’s Anti-Wrinkle moisturizer (which I won’t be buying again). I don’t want to get involved in a massive "project" with revitalizing my skin, just a few really, really good products that actually have long-term results in clarifying scarred skin, and preventing some wrinkle formation. I’m not expecting my scars to "disappear", or to push off aging indefinitely (I’m 28), and am not looking at surgery or skin resurfacing as options. I’m not made of money, but I will pay for a really good product that works. The only caveat is that it can’t be tested on animals, and is preferably vegan (ie, it has the flying bunny logo on it). That pretty much leaves anything on the Sephora website as a viable option, and I’d really appreciate any ideas-

Thank you in advance.
I drink at least 60 ounces of water a day, sometimes more.
Birth control did help with my acne, but I had to stop taking it because of nausea (and everything made me nauseous).

Skin Whitening?

admin August 5th, 2010

1. I don’t want to hear your crap about, "Why would you want to change yourself…..Blah…..Blah…. God made you with ……. Blah…..Blahh!"
2. Don’t waste your time in answering if you don’t have a answer.
3. What exactly does skin whitening do?
4. Can I apply it to my skin to make it a few shades lighter.
5. Is there a way to go to a doctor (I think a dermatoliogist) to get it professionally done?
The first poster is a perfect example of a troll. Please report him. I am.
I do not want plastic surgery. I want to know what skin whitening can do?

Homemade Back acne treatment which clears up skin fast?

admin July 17th, 2010

Hey, i have been a bad "bacne" sufferer for roughly a year now and im sick of it. I want to know a simple, quick, and affective way to clear up my back from acne. My main reason is because my friend’s birthday party is in roughly one month and we usually go swimming so I dont want to be embarrassed.
PLEASE HELP
Thanks in advance :)

Are the effects of skin whitening pills the same as in creams and injections?

admin July 7th, 2010

Do not compare me to Micheal Jackson. He was not Asian. And he did numerous amounts of plastic surgery. I, however, have nothing against his white skin due to his Vitiligo.
So please, all I ask is for a mere straight forward answer instead of a "No! LoVe ThE wAy YoU aRe!", etc, or else I’ll laugh. Because I don’t think I could afford them either way.

At what age did you notice the first signs of wrinkles on your face?

admin May 27th, 2010

I’m 23 and I’m noticing some wrinkles around my eyes :’( I feel like crying.

I have kind of oily skin. Is there an anti-wrinkle cream that won’t "over-moisturize" my skin?
No smoking, but I used to drink quite a bit. Not really anymore though. I wear make up every day. I’m sure that’s what’s causing it.
