How to contain acne for sensitive skin?

admin August 12th, 2011

I have really bad acne. Mostly blackheads that won’t go away. I have used Skinid, neutrogena, PanOxyl, and proactiv. None of them work for me. I went to a dermatologist and they gave me a anti-yeast treatment. It doesn’t seem to work. I have also used Clean & Clear. I get really bad breakouts and I have one right now, which is really bad. Like impossible to handle. Do you have any treatments for sensitive skin. My skin tends to dry up and peel. PLEASE HELP!

Dry skin dry skin help help HELP!!!?

admin July 2nd, 2011

So I’m not here to complain about my complexion- I’m happy with my skin for the most part. I rarely break out, and I apply my make up to give my face a flawless, matte finish.
HOWEVER, my skin does not seem to want to hydrate! If I keep a still face and show absolutely no expression, this is not noticeable. BUT if I look closely into the mirror and twist and contort my face in weird ways, I can see many vertical(ish) dry lines and creases on the sides of my nose and on the inner cheek (around the nose) area. Especially when I’m wearing make up. Now I know you must be thinking.. who the hell is gonna make all those weird faces in public? I know, and believe me, I don’t haha, but I’m worried it will either lead to premature wrinkles, or just.. not go away, which would be really annoying. I’ve had this for about half a year and I’m pretty sure it’s due to overwashing, but I’ve gotten better with that and I’ve been using the cream and facial cleanser my dermatologist prescribed for months now and I feel like it’s only improved a little.. if it even has. I just really wanna get rid of this.. so if anyone can help me… I’d appreciate it soo much- and I’d probably try to answer a bunch of your yahoo questions too! ;p

By the way I’m 17 if that makes a difference, I don’t know haha

lots of wrinkles at age 40 what to do.. become a recluse?

admin June 29th, 2011

I did take care of my skin with sunscreen (since age 17), dermatologist, peels (30’s) and good moisterizers (age 15). But I have very fair skin. My dermatologist said that my wrinkles are herditary and there is nothing I can really do about them. An aggressive peel/laser may help for awhile, but it is costly. My mother never tanned (she can’t) and still wrinkled up a ton more severly than people her own age. what should I do? I am embarrased. Only very old men (60’s-70’s) approach me… But I guess it is good that someone still tries to pick me up??? Totally gross to me although.

Does using firming night face lotion have a negative effect young women?

admin June 14th, 2011

I am 19 years old and I had bad acne. I went to the dermatologist which work miracles on my face but now my skin is really dry.

I use normal Olay lotion during the day and I thought it would be nice to use a night lotion. I read that using anti-wrinkle lotion is bad at a young age but is using the Olay firming cream at night bad also? Are they the same things? I really don’t know much about this stuff other than it makes my face feel great.

Recommendations for really oily, really acne-prone sensitive skin?

admin June 12th, 2011

I’m about to go to a dermatologist to get prescribed oral antibiotics in a month when my insurance benefits renew, but in the meantime – what is a good gentle facial cleanser, a good toner without alcohol, and a good acne treatment? Money is not a consideration, but what you get for your money in comparing two products definitely is a consideration.

The best “shelf” treatment for acne? (I have sensitive skin)?

admin June 10th, 2011

Oh my gosh, I’ve tried Clearisil, Oxy-something, Neautrigina facial wash, all Biore skin products…..I even went to the dermatologist for some really strong Clinique. Recently I’ve been trying Aveeno facial wash for acne. Nothing seems to work! I’m 18 and that "time of the month" isn’t for another two weeks, so nothing majorly hormonal going on right now…….help! Thanks

p.s. Anyone try those "shelved" pills for acne yet?

Retin A? Does it help sun damage?

admin May 27th, 2011

My dermatologist just prescribed Retin A for me. I am 36, still have nice skin, but spent a lot of time in the sun as a teen and into my 20’s. I want to get on a good skin care program to prevent future damage and so I age well. I do not have wrinkles yet.

After using it only a few days my face was burning- like on fire. I was peeling…ouch. I stopped and had to slather Vitamin E cream all over to help with the dryness.
My skin is pretty much through that stage now- it does feel tighter and feels pretty good now, but really really dry.

I have heard that Retin A is for acne, though. I do not have acne.

Has this helped anyone? Just curious to hear input from those who have used it.
Thanks.

What kind of acne treatment won't interfere with birth control?

admin May 11th, 2011

‘m meeting with my dermatologist to discuss going on acne treatment. The problem is, I’m going to be with my mom, who I haven’t told I was having sex yet. I need to be put on something that won’t interfere with the effectiveness of my birth control. Anyone know of one that actually works? I’m looking for an oral treatment since creams and gels don’t work for me and only dry out my skin.

I’m ON birth control, and it didn’t help.

Skin feels like it is on fire. Docs can't help. What do I do?

admin April 23rd, 2011

Ok. I tried to post my entire history on here and realized a week later that it was trumped to ~20%

Ok. The short of this is…

The skin of my scrotum has burned for 6 months and a few days now.
The skin on my head, face, neck, shoulders and chest has burned for 3 months now.
The skin of the head, face, neck, shoulder and chest typically look healthy (no pink or redness. I am fair skinned.). They are only red if I wash several days in a row, but the skin burns 24/7 like a "carpet burn" or "indian rub burn." For the past month now, the skin has been so sensitive that I cannot wash it but every 2 or 3 days even with so called "sensitive skin soaps." I have ordered a different brand of sensitive skin soap nearly every week for the past 6 months (I bet you had no idea there were so many). I have tried the Eucerin, Basis & Vanicream that seem to be so popular, and many more including the rather exotic Neem Aura. Even shampoos hurt. I have tried several shampoos.

Also, I have seen a doc every 2 weeks for this — 6 different ones: 2 GPs, 2 urologists, 1 dermatologist, 1 neurologist. They are unable to offer any relief. LITERALLY NOTHING IMPROVES THE APPEARANCE OF THE SCROTUM. Nothing improves the sensitivity of all the areas besides leaving them alone for 2 days or more, but I have developed severe acne in doing so… at age 38!!! I have tried several things topically and orally for the pain, which while it is not usually intense, it is constant and annoying. The only thing that has helped with the pain is ice.

This week, my lips are beginning to burn. It seems whatever this is spreads slowly.

My questions are:

1) Any ideas anyone? It’s ok if you are not a medical professional or if you are. I hold noone liable here.

2) I am appaulled by both the apparent lack of compassion/sympathy and the apparent lack of competence by the doctors. Perhaps I do not know what to expect in medical care and expect too much. To the doctors’ credit, I will say that things don’t look bad 99% of the time (apart from the scrotum which looks only mildly red and excessively wrinkled and no longer "retreats" — EVER.). Only 1 of the 6 docs is even friendly, at least projecting a caring spirit. NONE of the docs have done any test except at my explicit request, and all of these test were from the nice GP. The dermatologist has never done a skin scrape or biopsy. Does this seem "good" medical practice? Is this "standard" medical practice? If not, what do I do? How do I get the medical care that I feel I deserve and that I am paying for?

I’d like to share a lot more details, but let’s see if this fits…

treatment for oily, sensitive, acne prone skin??

admin April 16th, 2011

Okay I’m 15, and I have VERY sensitive skin, to the point that some products will actually give me a chemical burn. I need a moisturizer and a cleanser that will help me get rid of my acne but not be too harsh on my skin.
DONT say proactive, I’ve tried it, made it worse so please dont suggest it.
And I cant afford to go to a dermatologist so I have to have something over the counter, any ideas?

Best [affordable] eye creams for 20s?

admin April 8th, 2011

I’m 22 and I don’t have any problems with wrinkles, but I’ve been thinking about getting an eye cream and now that I’m going to start tanning (no lectures, I know all about skin cancer and premature aging. I’m not aiming to be a bronze beauty, I just want a bit of color to hide some imperfections. I do NOT have the money for self tanners, my gym membership includes free tanning. I see a dermatologist yearly).

so what are some affordable eye creams to prevent wrinkles? most I’ve found are for older skin to remove wrinkles and they’re too heavy for my young face :\

healthy skin. PLEASE AWNSER!!?

admin April 4th, 2011

I’m only around 16 but i want to take care of my skin so it will be nice when i get older. By the way, my skin type is oily.
This is what i do:
- never go to tanning salons
-wear sunscreen when outside
- wash and moisturize face every morning and night with cetaphil
- steam face once a week and use proactiv refining mask
- i use mineral make up

is drinking green and black tea good aswell?
and does wearing eye make up give you eye wrinkles?

thanks so much. I just really want to have good skin when i get older. Right now i suffer from acne and i go to a dermatologist and its getting better. So, if you have any suggestions, its greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Whats the best acne treatment (combination type skin)?

admin March 19th, 2011

I have combination skin (normal/dry skin on cheeks and side of face and oily skin on my forehead, nose and chin). my acnes not that bad, its like moderate. I mostly get lots of skin colored small pimples and sometimes big red ones. the little skin colored ones are really annoying and ive used proactiv, acnefree, clean&clear advantage and clinique. proactiv worked for a while then stopped working, acnefree kept my skin the same, clinique dried my skin out, so clear and clear is the best acne treatment ive used but wondering if theres something better.
ive heard of something called exposed, is that any good? or zenmed or any of those brands?
also are there any good prescription creams available at the dermatologist?

kthanks

What is the best perscribed drug/skin care treatment for acne prone skin?

admin February 27th, 2011

I have pretty bad acne.. a lot of redness. I have tried drugstore products, clinique, and Proactive and so far nothing is working(still seeing if proactive works but..)
Is there any brand or product I should ask my dermatologist about that can clear my acne? I have heard of accutain but it has been changed to a generic kind and I’m not sure what it’s called.

Retin A is so expensive… any other options? My script was $160!?

admin February 25th, 2011

My dermatologist wrote me a prescription for Retin-A Micro. I went to pick it up and the price was 0.00!!! My insurance usually charges me per script. I cannot afford 0.00, so I left it there. Are there other options out there?

I do not have bad skin, but want to be on a skin care program to prevent wrinkles and help with sun damage from my 20’s. I am 36… not wrinkled , and I like the results I have been seeing from using the samples. I want to do some preventative maintenance .

I am wondering if the 0.00 is worth it. It was a large tube. Looks like it could last 5-6 months- maybe longer. I know it is better than stuff you can buy at Target.

Are there less expensive forms of Retin A? Is Retin A Micro just a brand name? Help.

How do I decide what's the best acne treatment for my skin?

admin December 5th, 2010

My acne isn’t that bad. I’ve never really experienced acne before until now. I am 25 years old, and I have just noticed a breakout. I started using something light, like ambi, and that didn’t work. Then I decided to try Neutrogena Anti-Acne Cleanser and mosturizer. In the meantime, I had placed an order for proactiv. So, I used the Neutrogena for about 3 days until the proactiv came, and then I waited about 3 or 4 days (I stopped using the Neutrogena) and began using the proactiv. Well, the proactiv seemed to make it worst. The Neutrogena wasn’t given me any problems though, I just thought the proactiv would work quicker. But, it didn’t. It just dried my face out and it itches from time to time. I have an appointment with the Dermatologist this coming wednesday so, I wll have to see what he says for me to use. But, do you think that using the Neutrogena is good?

I need an inexpensive acne treatment for sensitive skin?

admin November 4th, 2010

I get acne all over my forehead, part of my chin, and some times on the cheeks.
No blackheads ever.
It’s a little oily, but whenever I wash it or put any acne treatment stuff over top of it it gets really dried out and sometimes burns a bit.
Please suggest an inexpensive routine/treatment that I could get at a pharmacy or the mall.

I’ve tried proactive and it hurt my face beyond repair for a while. It was much too strong.

My parents and I are really struggling financialy right now, so I can’t afford to go to a dermatologist (and our insurance doesn’t cover it).
Please suggest something really cheap. The top amount of money that I am willing to pay is about .
Thanks in advance!
